self-signed: signed by its developer, not notarized by apple. macos asks you to confirm the first launch. here is how.

Line up every camera and recorder by its sound.

open your timeline, and clipsalign aligns each device's clips by their audio and writes a synced copy. your original project stays untouched.

One track is one device.

put each camera, recorder and phone on its own track, the way you already do. clipsalign solves one start time per file for the whole session, not just pair by pair.

  1. open

your project, as it is: a davinci resolve timeline, final cut pro, premiere pro, an ableton live set or a reaper project. each track is one device.

  2. listen

every source file is decoded in parallel. waveforms show up as soon as they are ready, so you can see what you are working with.

  3. sync

files are matched by their audio against the other tracks and placed on one shared clock. switch between original and synced, play it back, drag a file if you disagree. undo is there.

  4. save a copy

the result is written next to your project as name-sync, or exported to final cut, premiere or reaper. your original is never changed.

Works where you edit.

video timelines and music projects alike. open any of them, write the synced copy back in the same format, or hand it to another app.

Opens

  • davinci resolve.otio, via the plugin
  • final cut pro.fcpxml, .fcpxmld
  • premiere pro.xml
  • ableton live.als
  • reaper.rpp

Writes the synced copy as

  • its own format, as name-sync
  • final cut pro
  • premiere pro
  • reaper

any project in, any of these out.

Sync without leaving Resolve.

the dmg includes a davinci resolve script. it sends the current timeline to clipsalign and brings the result back as a new timeline. the one you started with is not touched.

to install it, drag "sync with clipsalign" onto the resolve scripts folder in the dmg window, then restart resolve.

macOS will ask once. Here is what to click.

clipsalign is signed by its developer but not notarized by apple, so macos blocks the first launch until you confirm it. you may need to do this again after installing a new version.

check the download before opening it:

shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Clipsalign-0.2.0.dmg

should print

d721fd73c3c940bb28417cb01ca63f7f51ff3b563b49e037e7eb33cd1fef3739
  1. drag clipsalign onto applications in the dmg window, then open it. macos says it cannot verify the app. click done, not move to trash.

  2. open system settings › privacy & security and scroll to security. next to the clipsalign message, click open anyway.

  3. enter your password, then click open anyway once more. from now on clipsalign opens normally.

or skip the clicking and run this once in terminal:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Clipsalign.app"

Stop nudging clips by eye.
